Due to our own lack of awareness and ignorance, we often fall victim to various scams by resorting to agents for a new passport. If we have a clear idea of how much it costs to get a passport, we can easily make our own passport at a minimal cost.

Bangladeshi passports are of four types based on validity and number of pages. Based on validity, there are two types of e-passports. On the other hand, looking at the number of pages, there are two more types of passports.

The e-passport fee is determined based on the validity and number of pages. The cost of obtaining a passport also depends on the type of delivery. Normal delivery incurs the lowest cost, while express or super express delivery costs the most.

For a 5-year, 48-page e-passport with regular delivery, it costs 4025 BDT. The same passport with express delivery requires a fee of 6325 BDT. Similarly, for a 10-year, 48-page passport, the cost is 5750 BDT for regular delivery and 8050 BDT for express delivery.

Likewise, depending on the validity period, delivery type, and the number of pages, applying for a new passport can cost between a minimum of 4025 BDT and a maximum of 13800 BDT. The current cost for making a passport is listed below:

For a 5-year, 48-page passport:

  • Regular delivery fee: 4025 BDT
  • Urgent delivery fee: 6325 BDT
  • Very urgent delivery fee: 8625 BDT

For a 5-year, 64-page passport:

  • Regular delivery fee: 6325 BDT
  • Urgent delivery fee: 8625 BDT
  • Very urgent delivery fee: 12075 BDT

For a 10-year, 48-page passport:

  • Regular delivery fee: 5750 BDT
  • Urgent delivery fee: 8050 BDT
  • Very urgent delivery fee: 10350 BDT

For a 10-year, 64-page passport:

How much is the e-passport fee?

The cost of your e-passport depends on three factors: the validity period of the passport, the number of pages in the passport, and the type of delivery.

Here is a list of the fees based on the type of delivery, number of pages, and validity period of the passport. It is advisable to prepare all the necessary documents before submitting the passport fee.

For general applicants applying through Bangladesh missions abroad:

48-page passport with 5-year validity:

  • Regular delivery: 100 USD
  • Urgent delivery: 150 USD

48-page passport with 10-year validity:

  • Regular delivery: 125 USD
  • Urgent delivery: 175 USD

64-page passport with 5-year validity:

  • Regular delivery: 150 USD
  • Urgent delivery: 200 USD

64-page passport with 10-year validity:

  • Regular delivery: 175 USD
  • Urgent delivery: 225 USD

For workers and students applying through Bangladesh missions abroad:

48-page passport with 5-year validity:

  • Regular delivery: 30 USD
  • Urgent delivery: 45 USD

48-page passport with 10-year validity:

  • Regular delivery: 50 USD
  • Urgent delivery: 75 USD

64-page passport with 5-year validity:

  • Regular delivery: 150 USD
  • Urgent delivery: 200 USD

64-page passport with 10-year validity:

  • Regular delivery: 175 USD
  • Urgent delivery: 225 USD

For government employees with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and retirees (PLR), there are some exceptions in passport fees. They can avail of Express service by paying the Regular Delivery fee. If they pay the Express Delivery fee, they will receive their passport through Super Express delivery.

What is the fee for a 10-year passport?

There are two options for a 10-year passport: a 48-page passport and a 64-page passport.

For a 10-year, 48-page e-passport:

  • Regular delivery fee: 5750 BDT
  • Express delivery fee: 8050 BDT

For a 10-year, 64-page passport:

  • Regular delivery fee: 8050 BDT
  • Express delivery fee: 10350 BDT

Paying the e-passport fee through banks:

You can submit the passport fee by filling out a bank challan form. Currently, the e-passport fee can be paid through five banks: Premier Bank, One Bank, Trust Bank, Dhaka Bank, and Bank Asia.

To pay the passport fee via bank, take the passport application summary and the necessary amount of money to the bank. Then, at the cash counter, get the form for paying the passport fee. In most cases, bank officials will fill out the challan form for you.

After making the payment, collect the challan copy. You need to bring this challan copy with you when you go for the passport photo and fingerprint submission.

Which banks can you deposit passport fees into?

So far, you can deposit passport fees through these five banks:

  • Premier Bank
  • One Bank
  • Trust Bank
  • Dhaka Bank
  • Bank Asia

During the passport application process, you can select online payment as the payment method. Then, through the designated website, you can use Bikash mobile banking to deposit the passport fee.
